Both a photographer and a maker of assemblages, the artist combines images of desire with memories and a delight in ephemeral and found objects.

Opening Reception: Thursday, May 12th, 6pm–8pm

Artist Walk-through: Sunday, May 15th at 3pm
Artist Q&A: Sunday, May 22nd at 3pm

Kim Hanson employs two distinct disciplines in his pursuit of artistic expression; still photography and assemblage making. In both forms he attempts to bring the ineffable into the light. The artist’s work reveals him to be a descendant of the Dadaists, the Surrealists, and the artists of the Fluxus group. In his posing of the models, and in the juxtaposition of found objects for his assemblages, the viewer can sometimes take pleasure in the appearance of delightful nonsense. But more often Hanson’s art evokes poetic and poignant memories, either personal or archetypal.
